Profile
of Saint Rose of Lima Students The
160 children served every year by St. Rose of Lima School are among the
most economically disadvantaged youth in Colorado. Seventy percent of our
students come from families living at or below the poverty level ($10,350
for a family of four in 2004), with another 20% being just above the
poverty level. Thus, the issues addressed by St. Rose of Lima school are
generally poverty issues surrounding education such as high drop-out rates
among minority and inner-city youth and providing a safe environment for
students. A large majority of
students are consistently from Hispanic families, and many students come
from families with single and/or unmarried parents.
70% of all students are Hispanic.
